This Free MacOS app definitely works for the Canon EOS 5D Mark II (my camera) but from the website, it also says it works for the following cameras: 1D C, 1D X, 1D Mark IV, 7D Mark II, 7D, 5D Mark III, 5D Mark II, 6D, 70D, 60D, 50D, 40D 700D (Rebel T5i), 650D (Rebel T4i), 600D (Rebel T3i), 550D (Rebel T2i), 500D (Rebel T1i), 100D (Rebel SL1), 1200D (Rebel T5), 1100D (Rebel T3), 1000D (Rebel XS) Unsupported: 1D X Mark II, 5DS, 5DS R, 5D Mark IV, 5D, 80D, 750D (Rebel T6i), 760D (Rebel T6s), 1300D, R series.

The software application can be used effortlessly. Firstly, copy the application into the /Applications directory of your Mac device. Next, adjust camera communication settings to PTP, connect the camera to your Mac using a USB cable, and close any auto-started applications like Apple Photo, Image Capture, among others. Finally, press the “Get Shutter Count” button to access the shutter count value.

Canon EOS DIGITAL Info Files (Free)

Canon EOS DIGITAL Info is a Windows-based platform that is based on the popular EOSInfo program. It works with the most up-to-date Canon EOS Digital Cameras, including models such as the 5D Mark II, 6D and 650D; these have all been tested and proven to be compatible. This program allows users to access detailed information about their cameras – from manufacturer details to serial numbers – without needing any technical knowledge or expertise. In addition, it allows you to edit some infos such as owner, copyright.

Note: Shutter count is available in subversion sdk 2.14 only, not on sdk 3.5. If you use the second subversion dk 3.5, you can edit and read some info but you can’t read the shutter counts actuations.

“Good to use when buying or selling a camera. I’ve used ShutterCount on a Canon 5D Mark II originally years ago. Then also tested some older gear, like my Nikon D200, D300 and recently I got a used Nikon D700 and Pentax K-3. Worked on all these cameras. If you need to use an unedited photo, just make sure you don’t use a photo from the Photo’s App. Just plug in the SD or Compact flash card and read from the memory card. It works. Photo’s exported files does not work. Would be great if it worked on Fuji as I have several of them, but not currently supported. For the price, I’m more than happy and it’s money well spent. Hope this helps.”
